POSITION SUMMARY
The Port Facility Security Team Lead is responsible for overseeing all security operations at a port facility. This includes leading a security team to ensure a safe and secure environment for all port activities. The role involves supervising daily security tasks, monitoring compliance with maritime security regulations, and coordinating responses to any security incidents or emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities for this role include:
- Supervision: You will supervise and coordinate the port security team, ensuring all personnel are trained, equipped, and performing their duties according to security protocols. This also involves overseeing daily security operations such as access control, surveillance, patrols, and screening of people, vehicles, and cargo.
- Compliance & Regulations: You must ensure compliance with maritime security regulations, including the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, as well as local laws and company policies.
- Incident Response: You will lead the response to security incidents, threats, or emergencies, including potential breaches, theft, or unauthorized access. This also requires coordinating with law enforcement and emergency services when necessary.
- Risk Management: You will conduct regular security risk assessments and recommend improvements to mitigate vulnerabilities. This also includes implementing and enforcing security procedures to protect personnel, equipment, and assets.
- Training & Record Keeping: You are responsible for providing ongoing training and development to security team members to keep them up to date on the latest security practices and regulations. You must also maintain accurate records of security activities, incidents, and reports.
- Communication: You will act as the primary point of contact for port security matters, liaising with port management, external security agencies, and law enforcement.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
To be considered for this position, you need the following:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a professional certification, diploma, or degree in a related field is a plus.
- You must have at least three years of experience in security operations, preferably in a port, maritime, or logistics environment.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a security setting is also required.
- You should have strong knowledge of maritime security regulations, such as the ISPS Code.
- Other key skills include the ability to assess security risks, excellent communication and leadership skills, and strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
