Crane Operator
Position Summary
Crane Operator will operate Mobile and Crawler Cranes at different locations within the operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the crane being operated complies with the relevant, GYSBI standards.
- Ensure the crane is in a safe condition to operate.
- Ensure all safety checks are completed prior to operating.
- Operate the crane in a safe manner, minimising the risk to you and others as well as to equipment and property.
- Understand and follow lift plans, understand load charts.
- Understand and comply with banksman crane signals.
- Identify functions and limitations on various operating crane.
- Identify and recognize factors that may reduce a cranes ability.
- Follow all safety procedures and engage in safety programs in line with company requirements.
- Participate in Risk Assessment and toolbox discussions prior to starting tasks.
- Ensuring Crane to be operated is free from defect and operated within its Safe Working Load.
- Other duties as assigned.
Objectives
- Ensure all loads are lifted safely.
- Bundling operations, OCTG handling.
- Cargo handling operations – quayside lifting to/from supply vessels.
- Routine/Simple/Complicated/Complex lift categories conducted as per procedure.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
- Minimum of five (5) years’ proven experience.
- Trained and possesses recognized certification in Crane Operation.
- Demonstrate ability to read load charts.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills in safe rigging practices.
- Demonstrate ability to calculate a crane’s actual load capacity.
- High School Diploma.
- High degree of alertness and attention to detail.
- Organizational and efficient time management skills.
- Multi-tasking skills.
- Proactive and self-motivated.
