POSITION SUMMARY
The Heavy-duty Equipment Operator is expected to have a high level of alertness of immediate surroundings. The daily duties include preparing and manipulating heavy equipment to ensure the appropriate movement of materials and liaising with coworkers to ensure that the projects are completed accurately.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
– Self-motivated with the ability to perform well without supervision
– Operate heavy equipment in compliance with the company’s operating safety policies and procedures.
– Start each workday with an inspection of tires, controls, fuel and fluids to ensure reliable operation, ensuring that pre-operation checklist is thoroughly completed.
– Maneuvering heavy motorized equipment to ensure the accurate removal and placement of materials.
– Aiding coworkers to ensure that the site is clean and organized at the end of each shift.
– Create level surfaces, grade slopes to specifications, remove and thoroughly fill voids using plans.
– Load and unload construction materials, waste, and other heavy objects
– Other duties as assigned relating to the job
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
– Driver’s License with MT and ML classes. C
– Certification for the relevant equipment is an asset.
– High school diploma or equivalent
– Minimum three (3) years of experience operating heavy machinery in a related industry, including graders, dozers, backhoes, and excavators
– Ability to operate heavy equipment specifically graders in an industrial environment
– Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
– Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
– Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance including tire pressure, checking oil and water levels.
– Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
– Strong understanding of safety procedures and policies
