Position Summary
The Project Director will oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple projects across various locations related to GYSBI.
The successful candidate will ensure the smooth execution across all project phases — from concept to completion — while maintaining adherence to safety, environmental and regulatory requirements, quality standards, timelines, and budgets.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience managing multiple job scopes and teams under demanding QHSSE standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Execution
- Oversee the project lifecycle, including scope definition, planning, design, execution, monitoring, and closure.
- Ensure that project milestones and objectives are achieved within budget and on time.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, resource plans, and budgets.
2. Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead cross-functional teams, including engineering, construction, procurement, and HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment).
- Foster a culture of collaboration, safety, and high performance among project teams.
- Liaise with contractors and suppliers to ensure smooth delivery of goods and services.
3. Risk Management & Compliance
- Identify and mitigate project risks, including financial, operational, and safety risks.
- Ensure compliance with client standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
- Develop and implement safety protocols, emergency response plans, and environmental protection measures.
4. Client & Stakeholder Communication
- Maintain communication with senior leadership, contractors, and other key stakeholders.
- Prepare regular project status reports, ensuring transparency and alignment with company objectives.
5. Financial Oversight & Resource Management
- Manage project budgets, cost tracking, and financial reporting.
- Optimize resource allocation and utilization, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
6. Contract Management
- Oversee contract negotiations, terms, and adherence to contractual obligations.
- Monitor vendor performance and manage contract compliance.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction / Project Management, or a closely related field
- Preferred: Master’s degree in Construction / Engineering / Project Management, or Business Administration (MBA)
- Preferred: Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or similar
- Advantageous: Additional certifications related to HSE standards, such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent
- Extensive experience in project management
- Strong leadership skills, with a proven ability to manage large, diverse teams and drive results
- Knowledge of HSE practices and risk management frameworks relevant to project execution
- Ability to implement safety protocols and foster a safety-first culture
- Excellent communication skills for dealing with senior management, clients, contractors, and stakeholders
- Strong negotiation skills for contract management
- Understanding of engineering, construction, and various other processes across project execution
- Strong ability to manage budgets, forecast project costs, and control expenditures
- Ability to track financial performance and ensure profitability
- Analytical mindset with the ability to handle unexpected project challenges and adapt to changing conditions
- Excellent decision-making abilities under pressure
- Experience working in various settings with the ability to navigate cross-cultural environments
- Flexibility to work in challenging and dynamic environments
